This book is chock full of detailed information on the treatment of Adult Acne. I was impressed with the extent of the research that went into this book. The author left nothing to chance, she covers all possible scenarios that could occur with adult acne, even a bit of anatomy was covered in the structure and layers of the skin.This is a great book in and of itself, but what I liked most was that several alternatives were given, from your typical drugs to natural remedies. Even the foods to include in your diet in the fight against adult acne were discussed. Highly recommend!

This is an incredibly comprehensive overview of how to deal with adult acne which, make no mistake, is often different than the acne one experiences as a teenager. Yes, they can both be driven by hormones and hormonal fluctuations, but there are differences, and that means you need to treat them differently.This book covers pretty much every facet of cause (hormones, stress, etc.) and treatment, including internal (diet, medications that you take) and external (how you treat your skin, topical treatments, etc.).I was especially pleased by the author's treatment of diet, because there are so many ways that diet plays a role in how our skin looks and feels, and that includes how it impacts acne.Even though I consider myself very well-versed and well-educated when it comes to diet, and also dealing with adult acne, I still found not only reminders, but things mentioned in the book that would never even have crossed my mind in my everyday life. For example, having found myself single following a period when I wasn't, I was not changing my pillow cases as often as I otherwise would. When I was looking at my face and wondering why most of my (admittedly minor, but still a big deal to me) acne was all on just one side of my face, it suddenly hit me: that's the side of my face that is in contact with my pillow for 6 or more hours a night! I ran out and bought a few more pillow cases, and have started changing them more frequently, and whaddaya know! My acne on that side is clearing up! Doh!I also want to mention this homeopathic anti-acne product that I have been using (no harsh medications for me, thank you, although she does cover them in the book, and they can be useful for people): Natrabio Acne Relief TabletsI will say that I found a couple of typos/omitted words in the ebook, however I am not deducting any stars for them (even though I ordinarily would) for two reasons: 1. The book is so darned thorough, and readable, and 2. The author kindly sent me the book as a PDF so that I could easily read and review it, and I know that sometimes when translating a text to PDF things can happen. So, I feel that mentioning it here is sufficient. :-)In full disclosure, Kyla sent me this to review, however I am not bashful about giving my true opinion of a product (hey, I'm a lawyer, just try to *stop* me from giving my opinion! :~) )

This book is the real deal. If you have serious acne and you're wondering what to do, this is the place to start. My teenage son has severe cystic acne and I have spent hours upon hours researching every possible treatment plan from prescription medications to home remedies and even old wives tales. If you're on that same path, desperately searching for answers, this book is a great place to start. Kyla has compiled all the relevant research available based on her own personal experience battling acne and the scars it leaves behind - physically and emotionally - and put it all together into a compact, easy-to-read format that will make you a near expert overnight. What she has in this book is based on real science, including her own interviews with the best acne experts she could find. Read the book before you talk with your own doctor and you'll be able to have the kind of serious, informed, life-altering discussions you need to have rather than just trying one thing after another with no success. This book deserves more than two thumbs up - it's a guide book that shows you the way out of the severe cystic acne tunnel.

This is an excellent resource for dealing with adult acne. It is obvious the author has done her research on the hormonal, bacterial, stress and dietary causes of acne that affect adults. She has also provided a range of treatment options from diet changes (including recipes in the back!), OTC treatments, product ingredients to avoid and dermatological options. My only piece of advice (and it's a bit of a picky one) is to have a works cited page. There is an extensive list of resources, but it would be nice to have footnotes when a specific work is cited (especially if a direct quote is being used). WOW! I have not said that in a while and this reviewer surely did not expect that word to come from Alan Dean Foster’s 247-page novelization of Alien 3. Like so many—like millions— who were disappointed with David Fincher’s 1993 film, I did not expect Foster’s novel to change my mind about the “original” conclusion to the Alien franchise. Even ten years ago when I watched the Director’s Cut, I was still left wondering exactly what I was suppose to feel about Ellen Ripley’s final battle with the Xenomorph. Those familiar with the film will not find any spoilers here, for those who have not seen the film, there will be several plot points discussed in this review.The original draft for Alien 3 was for Ripley to crash land on a planet in the outer system that was home to a monastery. Much of the theme was kept with the inclusion of Dillon’s character and his followers who chose to stay as custodians for a mining colony turned maximum-security facility. Yet, I can’t help but wonder what the story would have “felt” like to have had devoted monks instead of barbaric prisoners for the Xenomorph’s supper menu. This is a point addressing the film’s story and not Foster’s novelization. So, perhaps it’s safer to just stick to the Foster’s story and a comparison with the film they actually made.Foster saved Alien 3 and gave it new life for this reviewer. Due to its brevity and my surprised enjoyment, I read the novel in one sitting. I wanted to write the review immediately afterward but did not want to come off too much of a “fan boy” while still basking in amazement with a wonderful reading buzz. Now, a few days later, I am still surprised at how much I enjoy the story. I had never been able to connect Ripley to Clemens, the “accidental-homicidal doctor,” or to the queen growing inside of her. Yet, in Foster’s story it finally dawned on me that the apocalyptic-themed maximum-security prison and the newly enhanced Xenomorph, coupled with the queen growing inside the “queen-slayer:” it is a chance for a new beginning and that the slayer and the dragon (Xenomorph) must both be destroyed to prevent the “apocalypse.” Much like Christ, Ripley must defeat evil through death, and later resurrection (the film Alien Resurrection).Superintendent Andrews makes much more sense in the novel, a respecttable prison warden who is scared of Weyland and its massive political-power and not just a jerk who ignores immediate danger to save routine and order. Also, Golik’s developed telepathic connection to the new warrior-drone Xenomorph is fleshed out in the novelization, which is very satisfying for anyone who has read Stephen Perry’s novels. Many assumptions are removed from the film, providing at time obvious answers for certain character motivations but also offering additional dialogue that just helps the film’s plot roll much more smoothly. Comparatively, the novelization is better than the film.A must read for the millions who were disappointed with the film. And having read the novelization, l re-watched Aliens 3: Director’s Cut. I enjoyed it in a way that I have not been able to since first seeing it when I was ten. Do not give up on the Alien series and do not just limit yourself to just the movies Alien and Aliens. There is so much content here and Aliens 3: The Official Movie Novelization really helps to excite readers to go farther and see what really makes these aliens so freaking badass!Originally reviewed for SFBook.com

This book is the novelization of the third movie in the ALIEN franchise - ALIEN 3 (actually ALIEN CUBED). I just finished the first two books ALIEN and ALIENS and I'm just loving these books. They are bringing back so many great memories from originally watching the movies.The book and the movie don't match up exactly, if my memory is serving me correctly. I'm actually going to have to sit down soon and watch them all again (no hardship there). It's been a few years since I watched them the last time so I want to refresh my memory.But even if there are some differences, this is still an exciting, action-packed story and well worth reading.And, if for some unforeseen reason you haven't watched the movies, rent them or better yet buy them for your movie library and watch these sci fi/horror classics.

A page turner. I recommend it to those who like adventurous horror alien genre. It's written wonderfully. A very good ebook.

Great book, enjoyed reading but bad review for packaging, I bought this book and a few other alien books and they through it all in a paper mailer without trying to separate them and they all are wrinkled and somewhat damaged.

I have really enjoyed the continued story of the original trilogy. A great science fiction story that will keep on your toes most of the time.

Very good book. Fun to read. Only issue I have with Foster is his endings always feel rushed.

Ive wanted copies of all 3 novelizations and am so glad that they came out in both paperback and ebook formats. They are a great read and Alan Dean Foster does them justice. As usual the books are more interesting than even the movies and that goes for Aliens in my opinion.

Kristie’s mom asks if she can befriend Gray in hopes of getting him on the straight and narrow. The plan backfires, however, as Kristie finds herself falling for Gray. Is it possible he feels the same way? The connection between them threatens to tear down everything Kristie has ever held dear.

The more she falls for Gray, the more messy things get. As Gray gets yanked further and further into the world of his gang, Kristie finds herself having to make a choice: stay on her own path or risk everything to be with Gray. Will she be able to make it out unscathed?

Book 2

Kristie has finally graduated from college. With a new boyfriend in tow, Gray’s rival, Armand, and moving back into her mother’s house, it feels as if life might finally fall back into place. But Gray, the love of her life and her cousin by marriage, happens to return after hiding out of town. He’s been freed of being suspected of a murder he didn’t commit and is now looking to reclaim glory in his gang, the Devil’s Advocates, once again.

But both Kristie and Gray are in for surprises. People aren’t always what they seem. Kristie struggles to work through her relationship problems with Armand while Gray struggles to fall back into a position of power in the life he left behind. As the two of them are drawn closer together, both must choose the life they want – with each other, or alone. No matter what they end up picking, the risks in their lives can end up costing the two of them everything.

Book 3

It’s been six months since Kristie was taken down in a gun fight related to her husband’s gang activity. Kristie finds herself struggling to get over the traumatic incident to move on with her life. She only wants one thing now – a child to call her own.

Despite Gray’s promise to leave the gang behind, he finds himself searching for Armand and a way to take out the Infernos. Kristie protests, saying that she wants to forget about it and start a new life together. But Gray cannot let go of the fact that Armand almost killed his wife.

Kristie and Gray find themselves losing sense of their relationship. Kristie is unable to conceive and feels as if she is failing Gray. Meanwhile, Gray throws himself into the Devil’s Advocates.

The cycle of violence continues but this time the stakes might be too high and the price to pay might only be one of blood.

Book 4

When Kristie discovers she is pregnant after thinking she cannot conceive, her world is flipped even more upside down. Her best friend had just been gunned down in a gang related shooting and her husband, Gray, is in a battle for his life with a rival gang.

Kristie finds herself juggling her pregnancy and the daughter she had adopted from her best friend. She finds herself being dragged into the dark world of the gang war against her bidding and must find a way to survive with her children.

Gray has a plan to get their happily-ever-after life but it is risky. He isn’t sure if it will pay off or not. With different cards to play and different people to keep wrapped around his finger, Gray puts everything at stake to get rid of Armand.

But Armand won’t go quietly. As the fighting continues, Kristie and Gray realize that everything is at stake.

An amiably ungrandiose, entertaining memoir of TV's Batman by the Caped Crusader himself. Aided by thriller writer Rovin (co-author of The Red Arrow, 1990), West devotes the first quarter of the book to his youth in Walla Walla, Wash., his eclectic early acting career in the thespian un-center of Honolulu, and his move into Hollywood westerns, at which time he jettisoned his birth name of Billy West Anderson. Selected in 1965 to play Batman, the actor prepared by reading novels whose heroes had dual identities, such as The Scarlet Pimpernel, and by scouring 1940s ``Batman'' comic books, trying to make his character ``as plausible as a superhero can be.'' West recalls how producers saved money by using sound-effects cards--``POW''--in place of transition shots, how he improvised the ``Batusi'' into a dance craze, and how difficult it was to shed his tight-fitting outfit on the way to the ``Batroom.'' He repeats his defense of the show as hard-working farce to critics who disparaged it as camp and his response to watchdog groups who suggested the crime-fighting team was gay (``Aunt Harriet wouldn't allow it''). He also offers thumbnail sketches of the actors who played show's villains, including the tormentingly sexy Julie Newmar as Catwoman, the distinguished Cesar Romero as the Joker, and the good-natured Liberace, miscast as an evil twin. After the show went off the air in 1968, West retreated into smaller roles and ``Batman'' nostalgia. While the actor hints that his Bat-fame gained him a good deal of recreational sex, he modestly leaves out the salacious details. Of the 1989 film version starring Michael Keaton, he observes that it showed ``an emotionally scarred Batman'' and regrets he wasn't offered the role. There was a long hiatus (25+ years) after my conservatory days and then I went back to singing in choirs. This inevitably lead to some solo work, and the clear recognition that I needed to get back to ongoing voice lessons and learning, even at the age of 50.Some years later now, I can readily say that a couple of fine voice teachers have had me use this varietal volume of classic pieces, both the Low Voice version as a Bass, and in this Medium High version as a Baritone.I move back and forth between the two over the years depending on where my vocal range is.Recommended.

My teacher is convinced that I am soprano. I am not convinced. The music in the book is too high for my novice skills. Trading this one in for a lower voice. In the lower voice of the same book, I am loving it. The registers of the songs is helping me sound better, learning some basic Italian singing along the way. Would be nice if there is a recording for all the pronunciations but that is where Teacher and Youtube comes in. Good book for the beginner and good technique honer for those who knows what they are doing. Good book. Book is good.

This is a great book for younger and older singers. The pieces are easily read (as I get older this becomes more important to me!) and although the recorded accompaniments aren't always helpful to the vocal line it certainly helps to have them for performances. It's much less expensive than paying an accompanist. I use this book for ages 9 and older. The one thing that would make it better would be if the songs were recorded once with the vocal line and again with just the accompaniment. Wonderful music. I love this book! Especially good if you have a teacher who knows Italian. Otherwise, not so much... Because itsa in Italian!

This is what it says on the box. If you are here, you know what you want. This one is for higher voices (treble clef). Clean pages and came perfectly intact. If you need some classic songs, go for it!

Thought this came with an accompaniment CD. Instead had a link to the Hal Leonard website to download music. The link is dead. Very difficult to practice for first 10 voice lessons ever - with no accompaniment. Has anyone found a live link to the accompaniment?

About the Author

Richard Bronson, PhD, is a professor of mathematics at Farleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Bronson has served as an associate editor of the journal Simulation, as a contributing editor to SIAM News, and as a consultant to Bell Laboratories. He has conducted joint research in mathematical modeling and computer simulation at Technion-Israel Institute of Technology and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
